NADAL FAVOURITE AHEAD OF FRENCH OPEN

RafaNadal is the favourite to lift the French Open this year.

The Spaniard excelled in Barcelona to sealed his tenth title. He defeated Dominic Thiem 6-4, 6-1 to continue his fine form in the hard courts. He was trading games with the Austrian and it seemed the game might enter a tie breaker as they both remained resolute.

Nadal, who was playing in a court that has been named after him, showed his consistent superiority over his peers in clay courts. In eleven years, he won nine titles in Barcelona. He dug deep to prevail in the rally against Thiem to win the set. As they resumed the second set, Nadal lost just a game as he cruised to victory. Rumors that Rafael Nadal put his Name in Double and Mixed Doubles

Some people are really perplexed that Rafael Nadal has put his name forward for doubles and mixed doubles as well in the Olympic Games. Due to fitness issues, it was thought that the Spaniard would be giving himself a go only in singles.

However, it is not something which has made Juan Monaco’s eyebrows go up. The Argentinean says he knew Nadal was not going to be cautious and would want to be competing in every draw.

As per Monaco, Nadal has tremendous fighting instincts in him and he can’t hold himself back if his body is fine.

Monaco though admits that Nadal would be slightly uncertain about how much strength he has got back in that injured hand because he has not been in a game scenario after the recovery.

Monaco has also warned everyone about the comeback man Juan Martin Del Potro whom he has had some practice-sessions recently as he reckons his countryman is hitting it nicely and is set for a good run.

Del Potro will have to create an upset straightaway to move any further in the singles as he is in section 1 of the draw and his opponent first up will be Novak Djokovic who is almost unconquerable these days. Continue reading Rumors that Rafael Nadal put his Name in Double and Mixed Doubles

Rafael Nadal impressed with the Mr. Larry Ellison

Rafael Nadal is very impressed with the works that have been done by Mr. Larry Ellison in the recent years to improve the quality of the Indian Wells Tennis tournament.

Ellison became the owner of the competition about 6 years back and since then, he has turned it into one of the best on the tour.

If there is a competition which is talked about the most these days after the Slams, it’s the Indian Wells and most of the credit has got to be taken by Ellison for that.

Every season, he has looked to make the competition more and more interesting. The kind of technology that he has come up with and also, the facilities for the players, it’s nothing short of awesome.

It might not be an official major, but, all the top players play in it and not only do they play; they take it in high regard and try and win it. It has no longer remained a warm up event for anyone.

Yesterday, talking about the improvements in Indian Wells, Nadal said, “It’s wonderful to see what Larry has been able to do. I don’t think anyone else would have made such a lot of difference over such a short period of time. He has got to be given total praise for that.” Continue reading Rafael Nadal impressed with the Mr. Larry Ellison
