LAVER CUP: FEDERER AND NADAL WIN FIRST DOUBLES

Tennis stars Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal won their first game together as double partners as they both featured in the inaugural Laver Cup.

The veterans shared the four Grand Slams equally among each other as their career resurged.

The Swiss Federer and Spaniard Nadal have intense rivalry on the court but they also get along pretty well off the court as well. They are both playing against a World team as part of an European side at the three-day tournament in Prague.

The pair combined for the first time to defeat Americans Sam Querrey and Jack Sock 6-4, 1-6, 10-5 to give the European side a 9-3 lead. Many tennis fans have praised the duo for setting aside their differences and working together seamlessly at the event. The pair themselves are happy to be playing together.

“We will always be rivals as long as we are active. And after this we will be rivals again. But this was something very special. Knowing you can trust him in the big moments, seeing his decision making, seeing his thought process, it was very interesting,” Federer revealed.

Nadal returned the favour, saying having Federer close to him was “a huge privilege.”He claimed the experience was “unforgettable.” He added that he always wanted to make it happen at some point and that he finally got the chance.

Nadal played a doubles match recently at the Davis Cup unlike Federer that last played in 2015. But they combined well, leaving the fans drooling at their partnership and wanting more.

Aside the duo, Dominic Theim and Alexander Zverev were in Team Europe while other young stars like Denis Shapovalov and Nick Kyrgios represented Team World.

The event in Prague enjoyed huge following and praise as it follows the Ryder Cup format of golf. However, none of the games are part of the ATP Tour.
